About Me
Hello! My name is Carmen Cornils, and here's a picture of me with my new grandson, Austinn. While Austinn doesn't know it yet, his grandma has spent many years researching and presenting nutrition information to parents to help them keep their children healthy. We know his own mother will use this information to keep Austinn from ever developing allergies or asthma.
His own mother developed asthma herself when she was 11 years old. At first I started to give her the medication her doctor prescribed. Then it dawned on me that I perhaps I could do something to help her actually overcome her asthma rather than just controlling the symptoms. I employed pretty much the same methods that I used on myself several years earlier to overcome my own asthma and allergies, and as long as we were diligent in doing this, her asthma did not return either.
With this success, I decided to try to help others. We were living in Hawaii at the time, where there is an exceptionally high incidence of asthma among the children (the CDC National Center for Health Statistics reported Hawaii as the 2nd highest state with the highest percentage of children with asthma). There are many reasons for so much asthma in Hawaii, I found, and one of the reasons is the 12-month a year growth and proliferation of vegetation along with the resulting pollen, as well as the mold, mildew, etc. that you find in a tropical climate. I knew personally and heard of many others who ended up moving from their beautiful state and their families to seek a drier climate, where their allergies might "dry up" or at least be only seasonal instead of year-round; people were desperate. My heart went out to them, especially because I knew that with better health management, they would not have had to uproot and leave at all.
So I started a support group, MAAA (Mothers Against Allergies & Asthma) to teach as many as I could reach, so that they might be able to help their children or anyone in their families who suffered from asthma. I collected all the material I had researched over the years, and found that it would take about 12 hours to teach them everything I had learned! I tried to condense the material down as much as I could, and I presented it in public seminars at schools or libraries around the island of Oahu, where we lived. Several small groups were formed as a result, and I continued to teach them at the meetings they would hold; thus MAAA was formed.
Shortly thereafter my husband and I and our five daughters moved from Hawaii to Colorado, where life and jobs have kept me very busy---too busy to update and publish my research and experiences with allergies/asthma as I had intended for several years---until now! I am now semi-retired, my children on their own, and with increasing knowledge of computers and the internet, I can hopefully share my knowledge and experience with many more people. Please check out my website and let me know what you think. I hope to give you something of value that you could use at this time and well into the future.
